Yacht Ropes

The pre-stretched, bio-based D12 78 core makes D2 Racing a high-strength, lightweight all-round performer. It is colour coded with the cover ensuring identification is assured even if the cover is stripped. Upgrade polyester halyards such as Doublebraid or Marlowbraid with D2 Racing by choosing a smaller diameter and achieving weight savings and handling improvements with higher safety factors and far fewer rig adjustments when sailing.

The 24-plait polyester jacket runs smoothly and grips well gibing superior performance in clutches, jammers and winches and providing excellent abrasion resistance and greater longevity. D2 Racing is easily spliced and tapered for a safer rig and the brightly coloured polyester cover is easily identifiable.

D2 Club has been developed to provide an upgrade to polyester sheets and halyards offering the benefit of reduced weight and reduced elongation thanks to the light weight Dyneema® SK75 blended core. Due to the ropes equivalent strength and diameter to typical polyester braids, it can be simply substituted without the complexity and expense of having to modify or change deck equipment like clutches and winches. The coated core provides extra durability and ease for splicing.

D12 78 is Marlow’s premium range of pre-stretched 12 strand ropes manufactured using bio-based Dyneema SK78 and is available in sizes up to 22mm diameter. D12 78 is characterised by it is lightweight, low stretch and high strength making it an ideal rope for the replacement of steel wire. Strength for strength, D12 78 is 8 times lighter than an equivalent steel wire rope and exhibits none of the drawbacks with steel such as corrosion, wire spliters and dangerous recoil in the case of system failure.  D12 78 has Marlow’s ArmourCoat coating as standard which increases abrasion resistance and its coefficient of friction.  However, Marlow also have a range of coatings to tackle issues such as flex fatigue and heat generation.

BLUE OCEAN® DOUBLEBRAID is the next generation of innovation in our Blue Ocean® product range. Made using our trademarked Blue Ocean® yarn, which is manufactured from 75% recycled plastic bottles. It offers the same great performance qualities of our original Marlow Doublebraid but from more sustainable material

Our heat set Doublebraid offers industry leading strength and stretch performance for a polyester braid-on-braid. Flexibility and soft feel ensures easy handling – especially good for leisure marine yacht sheets.  Easy splicing removes the need for bulky knots which also reduce a ropes strength. Also good for high load applications thanks to the heat setting process helping to reduce stretch and increase strength.  A great all-round rope.
